HyCC awarded IPCEI grant for green hydrogen project H₂ermes

21 December 2022

The green hydrogen project H2ermes of HyCC has received an important boost to support the decarbonization of industries: The Dutch government has awarded project H2ermes in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.

The funding follows the European Commission’s recent recognition of H2ermes as Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) for their contribution to decarbonize European industry. HyCC focuses on the development of large-scale electrolysis projects to produce green hydrogen to enable emission-free industries.

H2ermes will have a capacity of 100 megawatt to produce green hydrogen to reduce emissions from sectors such as steel, aviation, mobility and shipping in the broader Amsterdam region.

Stijn van Els, CEO of HyCC: “HyCC builds on decades of experience in large-scale electrolysis and is grateful for this support and recognition of our efforts to scale up production of green hydrogen. We are excited to contribute to a sustainable hydrogen economy in the Amsterdam region, enabling the transition to a net-zero economy.”
